The MetroStar regional high-speed rail system will receive a major overhaul now that the proper issues are fixed….More to come There is still much more to do however, including future continued expansion of highways and reimplementing the industrial backbone, which will be going into Davinfield and southeast Straughburg. This charter was implemented with many promised renovations in and around West Vernon, some of which have taken place over the 5 versions mentioned earlier, including highway expansion and zoning changes. There shall eventually be more rural-style cities incorporated to the north of East Farnsworth and Farnsworth.
Those cities are Vernon, Harristown, Jarvis, Belleville, Farnsworth, East Farnsworth, Davinfield (formerly Thompson), and Straughburg. Years ago, the city of West Vernon entered into a charter with surrounding cities simply because West Vernon could not expand further on it’s own. I would eventually find 5 versions of the old city in various places on my hard drive.

It was my first cable-stayed bridge since I started playing SC4.īack about a month ago, I decided to try once again to update my old version of West Vernon with techniques I learned since original inception of the city, along with using the updated add-ons. This neighborhood was named after the bridge that was constructed when University Avenue became part of the Crosstown Expressway. The Mid City Freeway came from a combination of an over-strained Old Vernon Avenue (Part of this became the newer Vernon Avenue), and South Boulevard, the original avenue into Downtown and points south of the “Shadow Of The Bridge” neighborhood. The Crosstown Expressway started out as over-strained avenues in three regions, the University section, the Northeast Commercial District, and the East Side Commercial District, and became the Expressway when I established the towns of Straughburg to the west and Vernon to the east. This is something I also did from the start with the new West Vernon. I have also redesigned the water system so that every major section of town now has it’s own water supply, this will prevent resource straining and issues with pollution spreading from one area to another over time. I also eliminated a previously planned section in the southeast part of town that has actually given me issues over the years with the GLR, and redesigning that interchange off the Expressway as a result, since it is now only one sided.

I have also finally figured out how to fix the Vernon Avenue interchange off the Mid City Parkway, that one has been a thorn in my side since I started using RHW. I have been working on the old West Vernon again, I have decided to redo the entire transportation infrastructure, mainly to the east side of town where the old elevated part of the Crosstown Expressway was, and rearrange the roadway system around the stadium. I will eventually be converting West Vernon over to Cities: Skylines since the game has just as many, if not more, features then SimCity 4 + Rush Hour + NAM has, including true curved roads and real stack interchanges. I highly suggest that fans of SimCity go online and buy a copy. I am also working parallel with the new, larger West Vernon I started last year and adding to that, continuing the neighborhood-first building technique of building up the neighborhoods first then connecting them to main city roads.Īnd finally – Cities: Skylines has just been released and looks like a true successor to SimCity, something that the city building community has been clamoring for that Maxis forgot about when they recently released SimCity 2013.
